Fixed Asset Register Review

A full walkthrough of your fixed asset register — existence, cost, useful life, and location — with an adjusted register ready for the year-end close.

  • On-site and desk-based fieldwork
  • Typically 3–6 weeks
  • Quote based on asset count and sites
  • Hong Kong — Admiralty office and client sites

Who this is for

Finance controllers, group accountants, and audit committees who need the fixed asset register to match what the organisation still owns and uses. Typical clients hold plant, leasehold improvements, IT hardware, vehicles, or specialised equipment across one or more Hong Kong locations.

What you receive

  • An adjusted fixed asset register at the agreed cut-off date
  • An exception schedule covering ghost assets, missing tags, cost mismatches, and life-estimate issues
  • Working papers suitable for external auditors (sample selections, vouchers, site notes)
  • A short management letter with remediation priorities for the next reporting period

What is included

We reconcile the register to the general ledger control accounts, select samples for existence and cost testing, review capitalisation versus expense judgements on recent additions, and walk selected sites to confirm assets still in use. Disposals, transfers, and fully depreciated items still carrying residual book value are flagged explicitly.

What is excluded

We do not provide statutory audit opinions, valuation opinions for purchase price allocation, or insurance appraisals. Tax depreciation filings remain with your tax adviser unless separately commissioned.

How the engagement runs

  1. Scoping call — asset count by class, number of sites, ERP or spreadsheet source, and close deadline.
  2. Planning memo — sampling approach, evidence request list, and site visit calendar.
  3. Fieldwork — desk testing of invoices and POs; physical verification at agreed locations.
  4. Reporting — draft adjusted register and exceptions; walkthrough with your finance lead; final pack.

Preparation

Please nominate a register owner, provide export access (or a locked spreadsheet), and clear warehouse or floor access for tagged assets. Capex folders for the last two years accelerate cost testing.

Pricing basis

Fees are quoted after scoping. Starting ranges appear on our Fees page. Travel within Hong Kong Island and Kowloon is included in standard quotes; remote New Territories or out-of-territory sites are priced separately.

Next step

Request a scoping call with your approximate asset count, locations, and reporting date. We respond within two business days.
